About Sysleriget - Hand-dyed yarn
The county is located in Risskov, just outside Aarhus. Syslerigt was founded in 2015 as a hobby project, where Malene started by dyeing yarn in the kitchen of the apartment on the 4th floor. Since then, the company has grown and now has a combined workshop and shop at the address in Risskov.
The inspiration came from much of the beautiful hand-dyed yarn that began to appear in the city's yarn shops, and when others could hand-dye, so could Malene. Quite quickly the yarn was 'discovered' on SoMe and after that things went strong for the burgeoning business.
In 2020, Malene went full-time to Sysleriget and has since employed Sidsel and Marie. Today we have dealers throughout the country, as well as in Europe and the rest of the world.
What does "Sysleriget" mean?
The name Sysleriget has a background in Southern Jutland, where the company's founder, Malene, grew up - and where she learned to knit from her grandmother.
The syllery is composed of the concept; "to work" as well as the word "wealth". The first part is about ' doing' - i.e. working, occupying oneself or tinkering with something - preferably in connection with a creative craft or a hobby. It includes handwork, where you create something with your hands without the use of machines. The purpose is both practical and aesthetic. The second part is ' the realm ' - i.e. the world we have created here, where creativity and creating are the focus.
